Exhaust system installation photos:
Install the entire system "loosely". Position the muffler by pulling, pushing, twisting, etc. until you are pleased with the location and lineup of the mounting holes and tailpipe. Then tighten everything down.
Hint 1: DO NOT drop the muffler! If you do it seems to always land on one of the expanded ends and bend it. The slip fit of the 180s into the muffler is pretty tight to prevent leakage as much as possible.
Hint 2: DO NOT force the muffler mounting tabs down with the 10mm bolts, bend them so that they just rest on top of the engine then install the bolts. If you force them into position with the bolt, the tab will be under constant stress and could break over time.

Test Fit
.
Assemble the system, twisting, pulling, pushing, etc. (Rubber mallet is helpful). The mounting tabs on the muffler can be bent to achieve proper muffler location. After everything is in place, tighten all bolts and nuts as if this would be a final install. Then check the penetration of the 180s into the muffler using the following process. Mark around the muffler and 180s.
Disassemble and then check the penetration of the 180s into the muffler. If you suspect that a 180 is bottoming out inside the muffler, Cut a small amount off the end of the 180 and check again. We want this connection to allow for a small amount of movement for temperature expansion.
.......Wrap the ½ strip of stainless tape just in front of the muffler inlet then wrap the 1 piece over the muffler inlet and ½ tape. Install the band clamps at each end to seal. This should be done after final installation. The glue will melt off the tape with first run.
.......This picture shows the 10mm bolt and washers. The hole in the mounting tab is intended as a guide hole and will most likely need to be drilled oversize for proper muffler placement. The washers will clamp the tab where it needs to be.
This is the gray silicone I used around the tailpipe firesleeve. I got this at Home Depot or Lowes. Works great but takes a little longer to cure than the regular stuff.
Tail pipe is to be cut to a length that pleases you.
Note:
The short pieces of firesleeve used to seal the 180 to muffler joint have been replaced with stainless steel tape.
